Dear Council 25,

As you are aware, we are in the mediation stage of our negotiations process. We came to the Company with a full and comprehensive opening proposal approximately 8 months ago and the Company is still dragging its feet in proposing a full contract. Since it seems apparent that we will not have a tentative agreement by the amendable date of January 7th, we are planning a leafleting/picketing date at McCarran for that date. More details to come. During your bidding this month please save the date. Remember, if we all pull together we will get a better contract. It’s time to do “Whatever It Takes!”

We also will be having a Local Council Meeting in January. We have tentatively selected January 22nd from 2-4pm. We have heard there are several rumors floating around regarding purser lines. We can address this in detail at the January meeting. However, in a nutshell, when the lines are being built, the person building them takes the IDs that have been constructed by the Company and puts them into a legal sequence while making every attempt to build “pure” lines of flying. The line builder submits these lines as recommendations and the person at Advance Schedule Planning inputs them into a computer database to ensure that the lines are legal and in compliance with the many parameters determined by the Contract and the Company. For the month of December, due to the large number of purser-qualified IDs that fell on a particular day, there could have been no fewer than 8 purser-qualified lines. Further compounding the difficulty in building legal lines of flying was the fact that there simply wasn’t much flying during the last part of the month. After submitting the line recommendations to the Company to ensure Contractual compliance, the Company sent them back with their suggested “fixes” and the result was 16 purser-qualified lines! After some strong protest and swift maneuvering by our line-builder, they were able to reduce the number of purser-qualified lines to 11. We do understand the inconvenience that brings to the pursers in our base (both qualified and non-qualified), and assure you that we will continue to advocate for flying that meets the needs of all of our Members. Our thanks goes out to Tina McEwan for her hard work in ensuring that our lines are Contractually compliant and as attractive as possible based on the IDs she is given to work with.

Want to be one of the first to know what’s happening in our negotiations? Then become a part of the F.A.N.N.! Contact Laura Harsh if you want to be in the Flight Attendant Negotiations Network. Her phone number is 362-4554 (not a cell- please, daytime hours only). Her email is lolsdollhaus@embarqmail.com.Or you may contact Linsy Devouassoux at lilmislinz@gmail.com, or any of your officers.

That’s all for now. Happy holidays to you and your families. Remember to treat each other with kindness and respect. Please fly safely and wear your AFA pins visibly on every flight. Together we will do “Whatever it Takes” to get an on time and industry-leading and contract.

Sincerely,

Your Council 25 Officers
