12 Additional IST Classes for 2006

Updated: March 10, 2006

As our flying partners in CDG, EWR and PHL domiciles confront the challenges associated with the closures, their AFA Local Officers have been working closely with our MEC Officers to advocate for the best possible provisions to help ease the difficulty of this process.  The company has agreed to positive accommodations for several issues, all of which are agreed to on a non-precedent basis.

One of the issues resolved will not only affect EWR and PHL Flight Attendants, but will also prove beneficial for all Flight Attendants still seeking International Services Training (IST).  In addition to the eleven IST classes previously offered for the 2006 year, the company will provide twelve more classes under the same parameters as those previously scheduled.

In the month of May, the company will provide:

  • Two (2) IST classes in PHL, and
  • Two (2) IST classes in EWR.

Additionally in 2006 the company will provide another:

  • Four (4) IST classes in DEN,
  • Two (2) IST classes in ORD, and
  • Two (2) IST classes in DCA.

The months of these eight (8) IST classes are yet to be determined.

Remember that these 12 additional classes will be:

  • Bid and awarded in System Seniority order;
  • Flight Attendants will be paid the nine dollars ($9.00) per hour training pay set forth in Section 15.A. of the Contract for the hours spent attending the training class;
  • No per diem, hotel accommodations or incidental expenses will be provided or paid for by the company; and,
  • Flight Attendants attending classes outside their domicile will be provided round-trip BP-3 positive space travel from either their home or their domicile to the training.
