Agreement for 14 IST Classes in 2007

Updated: January 25, 2007

We have achieved an Agreement for 14 additional IST classes in 2007, which will provide the opportunity for at least 220 training slots.  Six classes will be held in DEN and six classes in ORD.  The remaining two classes will be offered toward the end of 2007 at locations mutually agreed upon by AFA and the Company.

These classes will be offered under the same provisions as were agreed to for the 23 IST classes provided in 2006:

  • Bid and awarded in System Seniority order;
  • Flight Attendants will be paid the nine dollars ($9.00) per hour training pay set forth in Section 15.A. of the Contract for the hours spent attending the training class;
  • No per diem, hotel accommodations or incidental expenses will be provided or paid for by the company; and,
  • Flight Attendants attending classes outside their domicile will be provided round-trip BP-3 positive space travel from either their home or their domicile to the training.

Return to full Contract provisions for 2008 and Beyond
The Agreement between AFA and the Company also ensures that as long as there continues to be Flight Attendants who desire IST qualification, at least one training will be offered in 2008 and 2009 under the provisions of the Contract.  This will be reviewed for 2010 going forward as well and the Company reserves the right to cancel this class if it is less than fully subscribed after discussions with the Association.
