May 5 , 2008 - The technical problems associated with the Interim Vacation bid system has been resolved as of this afternoon and bidding will begin tomorrow morning.

December 4, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month schedule period beginning December 31, 2007 and ending March 1, 2008.

Japanese Immigration Requirements

November 20 , 2007 - The Japanese Ministry of Justice is enhancing security by requiring fingerprints and a photograph of all visitors to Japan, including flight crews. If the new procedures in Japan cause your duty to be extended, or whenever your experience causes your duty to be extended beyond the prescribed times in Section 7.I.3.a., call crew scheduling as soon as possible to update your duty time. This may also affect your legal rest as defined in Section 12.M. 

December, January & February Special Leaves Will Affect Benefits and Potentially Seniority

November 5, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the three-month period of December 2007 through February 2008.  Before bidding for these leaves it is important to carefully review the company's Special Leave of Absence information, particularly as it pertains to insurance, pass travel, vacation and sick leave accrual.

Reserve Co-Terminal Preference Test Expands to LGA

October 26, 2007 - The Reserve co-terminal preference system test is expanding to another co-terminal in the month of November, with the first schedule day, October 31, 2007.

Reserve Co-Terminal Preference Test Expands to BUR

September 18, 2007 - The Reserve co-terminal preference system test is expanding to another co-terminal in the month of October.  AFA and the company will continue to monitor the co-terminal test taking place in BWI, OAK and BUR as implementation moves forward at every co-terminal throughout the system. 

Company Proposed Concessions for Satellite Locations

Capital DomeJUL 27 - Usage of Flight Attendant satellite locations has increased in recent years through concessionary bargaining at American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, AirTran, ATA and imposed upon Delta Flight Attendants.  Satellite locations are being sought by management for savings on hotel costs, per diem, greater percentage of one day flying in satellite and hub locations, more segments per day, increased sit time and more duty periods in excess of 12 hours.  View management's concept >

May 8, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month period of June and July 2007.

BWI Reserve Co-Terminal Preference Test

April 13, 2007 - AFA and the company have agreed to implement a Reserve co-terminal preference system.  In the month of May, we begin a test of one potential preference process.  The test will be conducted for assignment at the BWI co-terminal only.

March 6, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month period of April and May 2007.

Business Education Classes - Preference Month Bidding

FEB 9 - A business education class is being designed by United for all employees of our airline. Starting Monday, February 12th, both Lineholders and Reserves can preference a month in which to attend this class. The preference month bidding for this class will close on Saturday, February 24th at 0700 Chicago time.

February/March Special Leaves Affect Benefits and Potentially Seniority

Jan 8, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month period of February and March 2007. Before bidding, review the company's Special Leave of Absence information for the impact on insurance, pass travel, and vacation, sick leave or seniority accrual. Also, Section 23.B. makes clear that seniority accrual will cease if on special leave status for more than 180 days in a 12 month period.

AUG 23 - United will open for bid 250 system-wide Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month period of October and November 2006.

Central Schedule Committee

Your MEC Central Schedule Committee, among other tasks:

  • Works with the company and the Local Scheduling Committees on the construction of flight attendant monthly lines of flying.
  • Discusses scheduling problems with the company and the MEC.
  • Monitors the company throughout the scheduling process for any perceived or potential violations of the Agreement.
  • Monitors movement of flying between domiciles.
