November 5, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the three-month period of December 2007 through February 2008.  Before bidding for these leaves it is important to carefully review the company's Special Leave of Absence information, particularly as it pertains to insurance, pass travel, vacation and sick leave accrual.
Reserve Co-Terminal Preference Test Expands to BUR
September 18, 2007 - The Reserve co-terminal preference system test is expanding to another co-terminal in the month of October.  AFA and the company will continue to monitor the co-terminal test taking place in BWI, OAK and BUR as implementation moves forward at every co-terminal throughout the system.

June 12, 2007 - The Reserve co-terminal preference system test is expanding to another co-terminal in the month of July.  AFA and the company will continue to monitor the co-terminal test taking place in BWI and OAK as we continue to work towards implementation at every co-terminal throughout the system.

May 8, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month period of June and July 2007.
BWI Reserve Co-Terminal Preference Test
April 13, 2007 - AFA and the company have agreed to implement a Reserve co-terminal preference system.  This concept is now a Contractual part of the Reserve scheduling parameters, but the process by which this is accomplished must be developed and tested. In the month of May, we will begin a test of one potential preference process.  The test will be conducted for assignment at the BWI co-terminal only. .

March 6, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month period of April and May 2007.
Business Education Classes - Preference Month Bidding
February 9, 2007 - A business education class is being designed by United for all employees of our airline. Starting Monday, February 12th, both Lineholders and Reserves can preference a month in which to attend this class. The preference month bidding for this class will close on Saturday, February 24th at 0700 Chicago time.
February/March Special Leaves Affect Benefits and Potentially Seniority
January 8, 2007 - United has announced a system-wide bid for Special Leaves of Absence for the two-month period of February and March 2007. Before bidding, review the company's Special Leave of Absence information for the impact on insurance, pass travel, and vacation, sick leave or seniority accrual. Also, Section 23.B. makes clear that seniority accrual will cease if on special leave status for more than 180 days in a 12 month period.
FABS Letter of Agreement
January 5, 2007 - AFA and the company have reached a landmark Agreement that provides for a number of Contractual quality of work life enhancements for all Flight Attendants and scheduling efficiencies for United.  This Agreement allows us to move forward with the development of a mutually agreed upon Flight Attendant Bidding System (FABS).

SFO Revised Vacation Bids
December 02, 2005- A problem was discovered with the San Francisco Secondary vacation bid allocation pages. AFA and the company have agreed that there is a need to re-bid Secondary vacations in San Francisco, which also requires tertiary bids to be rescheduled to close on Dec 14th. 
At Least Eleven IST Classes for 2006
November 10, 2005 - In an effort to provide additional opportunities for Flight Attendants to obtain the International Service Training (IST) qualification, AFA and United have agreed to an accommodation for at least eleven IST classes to be offered on a system-wide basis in 2006.
Modified Bidding Process Beginning in December
November 08, 2005 - As provided for in the Letter of Agreement on page 300, Section E. of our Contract, our bidding process will be modified in December for the January schedules.

Furlough Hardship Return Request
Sept 15, 2004 - As the company continues its process for the unscheduled recall from voluntary furlough, AFA would like to remind all Members on voluntary furlough of Section 21.A.3.f., which provides Flight Attendants with the ability to request a return to work “for personal reasons due to hardship, with the approval of the company.”  NOTE: Deadline has now passed to file a request.
Critical Coverage Declared
