After awarding voluntary furloughs to 681 eligible Flight Attendants, there were an insufficient number of eligible bids to cover the company’s need to furlough 900 active Flight Attendants.
The company is not willing to award any partnerships since they determined that it would not be cost-neutral to grant Partnerships at this time. Therefore, per Section 21.A. of the Agreement, the company will impose 248 involuntary furloughs, effective April 1, 2003. Flight Attendants with system seniority number 23,066 and below, with Flight Attendant classification seniority of July 30, 2001, (SW seniority) will be placed on involuntary furlough. This is based on the March 4, 2003 system seniority list.
The company will ensure that Flight Attendants affected by the involuntary furlough will receive a notification letter and information package at their UG 100 permanent address. The Furlough Call Center will also attempt to contact each Flight Attendant by telephone.
