Your MEC Safety, Health, and Security Committee works with the Company on matters pertaining to cabin and flight attendant safety, health, and security.
Mar 3 - Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stomped the Transportation Security Administration Sunday for not properly screening foreigners training at U.S. flight schools more than six years after the 9/11 attacks.
Mar 3 - A Boeing 777-200 operated by American Airlines has made an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport in Scotland when a fire was reported on board.
Feb 26 - Mysterious illnesses have been reported by flight crews around the world, who believe they are exposed to dangerous fumes aboard aircraft. It's led to bitter disagreements between unions for flight crews and the airline industry, including Boeing, which says tests show that cabin air is generally safe.
Jan 25 - Turbulence is an occupational hazard that we all take very seriously. Recently, our flying partners have confronted the dangers of turbulence on several flights around the system. Especially in light of these events, it is a good time to remember that every day we fly, when it comes to cabin safety, place yourself and your flying partners first.
Nov 20 - The Japanese Ministry of Justice is enhancing security by requiring fingerprints and a photograph of all visitors to Japan, including flight crews. If the new procedures in Japan cause your duty to be extended, or whenever your experience causes your duty to be extended beyond the prescribed times in Section 7.I.3.a., call crew scheduling as soon as possible to update your duty time. This may also affect your legal rest as defined in Section 12.M.
