The AFA-CWA Constitution and Bylaws authorizes each Master Executive Council (MEC) to pass a resolution authorizing that the official AFA pin to be customized with ribbons or other accessories to promote Membership solidarity. On December 14, 2004, the United MEC unanimously adopted a resolution to include a green ribbon with the AFA pin in support of Membership solidarity during discussions with United management over its attempt to force additional concessions on Flight Attendants through the Bankruptcy process.

WHEREAS, the AFA-CWA United Master Executive Council has received continuous feedback from Membership indicating that Union solidarity is a top priority in any attack by United Airlines Management; and,
WHEREAS, United Airlines’ 1113(c) Term Sheet demands have further propelled Membership to work together through AFA to protect the UAL AFA Collective Bargaining Agreement; and,
WHEREAS, the AFA-CWA, AFL-CIO Constitution and Bylaws Article I.Q. states:
A Master Executive Council may pass a resolution authorizing that the official AFA pin may be customized at its respective carrier with ribbons and/or other accessories or colors in order to promote solidarity among the Membership in support of collective bargaining, or in support of any issue affecting Flight Attendants at that carrier.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the UAL AFA MEC authorizes that the official AFA pin will be customized to include a green ribbon to promote solidarity within the Membership in support of the current discussions with United Airlines Management in their attempt to force additional concessions on Flight Attendants through the Bankruptcy process; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the UAL AFA MEC authorizes the customization of the official pin until such time further action is deemed necessary.
