United and JetBlue Agreement

While we have been working together to achieve enhanced travel benefits through Reciprocal Cabin Seat Agreements with other airlines, our advocacy has grown exponentially. Enhancing Flight Attendant travel benefits through reciprocal agreements has been a priority for AFA-CWA for quite some time. Our AFA-CWA Constitution and Bylaws lists reciprocal agreements as a one of our goals in negotiations at each of our Members' airlines. We now redouble our efforts to achieve this goal. This section of our website is dedicated to Reciprocal Travel Agreements.

Within this section we have posted communication to Onboard Service from MEC President Greg Davidowitch, letters to Domicile Managers from Local Council Presidents, AFA Resolutions on the issue and finally an on-line petition for Members to sign. We encourage you to sign the petition right away and add any comments applicable to your personal need or desire for these agreements. While this section will help us achieve our goal, it should not replace the discussions on this subject when you check in for work or during debriefing when your duty day is finished. We know this is a priority for United AFA Members and so clearly should management.

As we have said before, reducing hassles for Flight Attendants commuting to work will benefit our airline as more employees will have the ability to focus on the success of the company rather than expending time, energy and compensation on getting to and from work. There can be no down side to reaching these open seat agreements with other airlines. Simply put, reciprocal cabin seat agreements will have a direct impact on operational integrity, employee engagement and begin to restore confidence in the decisions made by management. We encourage every Member to continue to speak out in favor of these agreements.
