Mid Michigan -- Travel around the world could face major disruptions if United Airlines flight attendants make good on a threat to strike.
Flight attendants in several countries have staged protests, unhappy with changes to their pension plans.
Attendants are threatening a "chaos strike" -- random walkouts that could throw travel plans into disarray worldwide.
About 25 United Airlines flight attendants protested from Hong Kong to Newark -- both major hubs for United Airlines.
Other protests were held in Tokyo, London, Frankfurt, Germany and 14 locations in the United States.
Flight attendants are angry at the carrier's decision to terminate their current pension plans and turn their plans over to the U.S. federal government's pension insurer, which would decrease the amount of money the flight attendants expect to receive.
In Hong Kong, they carried signs expressing their displeasure to travelers.
This strike threat comes at the height of summer travel. United says it has spare crews and can maintain it's 3,000 flights a day.
