Legal Rest - Automatic Waiver of Report Time from a Layover

At a layover point, the Company may reduce the reporting time by up to fifteen (15) minutes.  Section 7.I.2.a.(1) defines the automatic waiver of report time.

2. A Flight Attendant may be scheduled or rescheduled to work both flights in a one-duty period round trip between the West Coast and Hawai’i provided she/he does not exceed fourteen and one-half (14 1/2 ) hours on duty.

Section 12.A.2. and Section 7.J.1.b. of our Agreement govern the scheduling of flights between the West Coast and Hawaii.

Flight Attendants may be scheduled or rescheduled to work both flights in a single duty period, two segment ID between the West Coast and Hawaii, provided they do not exceed 14 ½ (14:30) hours on duty. 

12.M.      

Legal Rest Minimums

 
1. Layovers

b.    Notwithstanding sub-paragraph a. above, the Company may schedule flights between California and Hawai’i under Section 7.J.1.b.

Section 12.M of our Agreement provides for legal rest minimums, for International flying, and Section 12.M.1.b. provides an exception to the minimum rest standard for an International ID, and applies only to flights between California and Hawai’i.

7.J.      

Legal Rest Provisions

 
1. Schedule - A planned legal rest must consist of at least:

Nine (9) hours free from duty at any point away from home where lodging is provided within approximately fifteen (15) minutes time (or time agreed upon by the MEC Hotel Chairperson) from the airport provided prompt transportation is available, or

c. Eleven (11) hours free from duty at any point away from home where lodging is provided more than approximately fifteen (15) minutes time from the airport.

Legal rest for flights between California and Hawaii, which are not “turns,” will be satisfied by Section 7.J.1.b.

Section 7.J.1.b. requires a layover that includes at least 9 hours free from duty at any point away from home, at any point where lodging is provided within approximately 15 minutes time (or time agreed upon by the AFA MEC Hotel Chairperson) from the airport.

Section 7.J.1.c. requires a layover that includes at least 11 hours free from duty at any point away from home, at any point where lodging is provided more than approximately 15 minutes time from the airport.
