When transitioning from a Lineholder month with a carryover pairing into a Reserve month, it’s important to take action as soon as possible to ensure you do not lose out on any Reserve days off to which you are Contractually entitled.
Section 8.I.1.a. of the JCBA provides that a Reserve shall be relieved of all duties for twelve (12) calendar days in a bid month at their home domicile. However, there may be times when you have a multi-day Lineholder trip at the end of one month that covers Reserve days off in the new month once the new month schedule is awarded. When this happens, the JCBA provides you with the ability to get the minimum days off restored by contacting Crew Scheduling, as provided in Section 8.O.9. Here are a few additional considerations:
The Lineholder carryover pairing must have been on your line prior to the new month Reserve schedule being awarded.
You must contact Crew Scheduling prior to checking in for the carryover pairing, or the days off are considered waived, so don’t wait!
Hours from the Lineholder carryover pairing that fall in the Reserve month are credited toward the Reserve minimum guarantee and TMAC.
There is no Add Pay when Lineholder trips cover Reserve days off, even if you choose not to have the days off restored.
