MEC Reserve Committee
In recent months, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of Reserve Move-up lines constructed across the system. This is positive news for many Flight Attendants who, upon being awarded a line, can enjoy the increased flexibility of being a Lineholder during a month they were originally assigned to Reserve. However, to avoid any unexpected schedule changes, it is essential to understand your Move-up preference options and the associated deadlines for updating your elections.
What Are Reserve Move-up Lines?
Reserve Move-up lines are constructed during the first five (5) days of the bid month using trips from open time. Instead of leaving these pairings uncovered, the company uses them to build additional schedules, allowing Flight Attendants to "move up" from Reserve to Lineholder status. Move-up lines can be built for all Regular Reserves and for Reserves assigned to the International Purser or Language Qualified sub-bases.
How to Add or Remove Your Name from the Move-up List
By default, all Reserves are automatically placed on the Move-up list each month. If you prefer not to be considered for a Move-up line, you may remove your name through the following methods:
If you initially opted out of the Move-up list during primary bidding but later change your mind, you can re-add your name via the "Reserve Move-Up Electing" screen until 2359 HDT on the last day of the active bid month.
Important Note: Adding your name after the primary bid period closes will place you at the bottom of the list on a first-come, first-served basis.
Protecting Your Days Off
If you remain on the Move-up list, you may designate up to four (4) protected days. These are specific dates you wish to guarantee as scheduled days off, regardless of the Move-up line awarded. These protected days do not need to correspond with the days off in your original Reserve schedule.
Important Note: If the system cannot accommodate all of your specified protected days, you will be bypassed until a line becomes available that honors your requests. If you do not indicate any protected days, or if your requested dates are satisfied, you must accept the awarded Move-up line.
Updating Preferences and Protected Days
You can modify your preferences, including preferred line types or protected days, via the “Reserve Move-Up Electing” screen in CCS. All adjustments must be completed by 2359 HDT on the last day of the active bid month to ensure they are considered during the Move-up line-building process.
