In a Flying Together News Article dated September 18, 2026, an update to the pass travel program was announced as it relates to cancelling a confirmed seat. Employees can now cancel a confirmed booking and travel NRSA for the same date and itinerary if both of the following conditions are met:
The article also provides a policy reminder as it relates to pass travel. Specifically: “If you are too sick to work, you are too sick for leisure travel.” As a reminder, we have a long-held understanding with Labor Relations that this policy does not apply to Flight Attendants.
Flight Attendants are not prohibited from, nor are they required to obtain permission prior to travelling while on Sick leave. However, in place of the prohibition and requirement to get permission, Flight Attendants are held to a heightened level of accountability. If you choose to travel while on sick leave, you should be prepared to establish that your sick call was legitimate and not intended to facilitate travel; and that your travel, and any activities surrounding that travel, do not hinder your recovery.
