A Letter from MEC President-Elect Scott Pejas
Members of United AFA,
As your incoming MEC President, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of appointing AFA Members to the Joint Implementation Team, also referred to as the JIT.
While this decision was time-sensitive, it was not taken lightly or made in haste. I contemplated the requirements the team should possess to be successful in the arduous task of implementing our newly Ratified Tentative Agreement. The members require a thorough understanding of the negotiations that took place and the conversations that led to the intent of the contractual language.
Those who were present at the bargaining table possess the background, history, and knowledge to defend our Agreement. Those appointed will ensure implementation is brought forward in the way it was agreed to in a timely manner.
After thoughtful consideration and discussions with MEC leaders, I ultimately came to the decision to appoint individuals who possess the qualifications that were vital to our collective success. The AFA Members selected for the JIT are Ken Diaz, Randy Hatfield, and Christopher Thurber. Their history and involvement in negotiations will support a timely and compliant implementation based on what was negotiated at the table and presented to Members.
Please join me in welcoming them to their new roles and supporting them as we move forward together.
In Solidarity,
Scott Pejas
United AFA MEC President-Elect
