JIT Update - September 9, 2026
This communication is part of our ongoing commitment to provide information on issues related to implementation. Please read through the following updates.
Boarding Pay
Payments for reboarding and cancellations that occurred in the June, July and August bid months will be paid on a separate check dated September 18th (LHR payments will appear on your regular September 16th paycheck). We have posted the list of the flights and flight attendants impacted in CCS so that you can cross-check the list with your records. [click the Pay tab in CCS to access IROPS Boarding Pay] If you have a flight segment(s) that is not reflected on the list, please submit a HelpHub request. A link to the HelpHub request is also available in the same location as the list.
Starting with the September 2026 bid month, reboarding and cancellations will appear on your regular monthly pay register. We ask that you allow at least two calendar days following the completion of the pairing for the information to update before submitting a HelpHub request. This will allow time for our systems to capture cancellations and reboardings that have occurred during the day.
You will likely need to submit a HelpHub request under the following circumstances for the boarding pay to be paid:
- Re-crew: the flight has been boarded, however the crew times out and are replaced by a new crew
- Deadhead converted to work on the same flight
- Entire pairing is cancelled after the flight has boarded
Please allow two calendar days following the completion of the pairing before submitting the request in the event that the data is correctly captured and the boarding pay is correctly reflected on your pay register.
Implementation Timing
We have received a number of inquiries about when certain items in the new Agreement will be implemented. Letter of Agreement 9, the Implementation Agreement, sets out a general schedule for implementation. United and AFA share a desire that the provisions of the Agreement be implemented as early as possible. We also recognize that predicting implementation is imprecise and that technology and operational needs can affect that schedule.
The Joint Implementation Team (JIT) is responsible for the timely and effective implementation of the Agreement. To that end, we meet weekly to discuss upcoming items, the long-term development of the systems integration and the process needed to implement any particular item.
Many of the items are extremely complicated and will take significant time to develop and program. For example, the elimination of sub-bases: This one change to the Agreement has a massive impact on our scheduling processes. Starting with the building of lines, through bidding and awarding monthly schedules, trip trading, move-up lines and, finally, daily Reserve assignments, each process and each system that is impacted by any one of those items has to be reviewed and updated to make this change possible.
We will continue to provide you with updates on upcoming items that are going to be implemented. As we get into more complicated items, like the elimination of sub-bases, we will also publish more in-depth communications and educational materials.
Please remember, until we announce a provision has been implemented, it is not in effect.
