Contract Sections 2.Q. and 4.I.
Our contractual Holiday provisions recognize our time away from home on the holiday, not just flight time worked on the holiday. For example, if a flight attendant has a layover on the holiday, with little or no flight time, the Holiday Pay calculation accounts for that.
Below is an example of how to calculate Holiday Pay for a 7-year Flight Attendant working an 18 hour 3 day trip with the holiday being on day 2 (Holiday Pay is calculated using base-pay and is in addition to all other compensation):
A Flight Attendant making $61.14 per hour flies a pairing which produces 18 hours of credited flight time and keeps the Flight Attendant away from home for 38 hours of which 24 hours falls on the holiday:
$61.14 x 18 hours = $1100.52
$1100.52 divided by 38 hours away from home (TAFB) = $28.96
$28.96 x 24 hours on holiday = $695.06
Holiday Pay = $695.06
Reserves are eligible for holiday pay unless released on a holiday. If you are assigned to Ready Reserve status and you do not fly, holiday pay is credited at 4:27 in a 30-day month or 4:13 in a 31-day month at the applicable hourly rate of pay for the Reserve.
Note: Holiday Pay is calculated using base-pay rates and is in addition to all other compensation.
Any Flight Attendant based in the USA and Guam that operates flight assignments, and Reserves on call over the Fourth of July holiday will be entitled to Holiday Pay as outlined in Section 4.I. of our contract.
