CBA 2026 Section 3.EE.
Fulfilling our civic duty by serving on a jury can be challenging as Flight Attendants. The below information can help you better navigate your responsibilities as a citizen, and to the Company when faced with the potential of serving on a jury.
Section 3.EE. of CBA 2026 states our requirements to notify the company and how we are paid for jury duty.
The Contract requires that Flight Attendants must notify their supervisor or designee no later than 48 hours after receiving notice of jury duty with a copy of the jury duty summons that can be uploaded to Help Hub.
It is also a requirement to call the Flight Attendant Support Team prior to any pairing(s) or reserve day(s) so that the Flight Attendant’s schedule can be adjusted to reflect jury duty.
Upon release from the entire jury duty obligation, Flight Attendants must call the Crew Desk for applicable reassignment on days originally scheduled for duty that did not conflict with the jury duty assignment.
It is required to submit a “record of service” once the jury duty obligation is completed to the Flight Attendant’s supervisor or Help Hub. If a record of service form is not received from the court, respond to the Help Hub case to advise FAST and close the case out.
Remember to provide documentation from the court, if the jury duty service is extended or the Flight Attendant is selected for trial. If documentation is not provided, Flight Attendants should contact their supervisor, who will need to submit the extension on their behalf.
Trip Trading:
If a Flight Attendant changes their schedule after receiving the notice, they are only entitled to flight pay loss (lineholders) or pay for missed Reserve Days that appear in their original schedule , per Section 3.EE.1.a. of the Contract.
Pay:
- Lineholders receive flight pay credit and all accruals for any flight time lost due to the requirement to be present for jury duty
- Reserves receive pay credit at the Reserve daily rate and all accruals for each Reserve day lost due to the requirement to be present for jury duty
Reassignment:
- Flight Attendants must remain available for reassignment on originally scheduled duty days that do not conflict with jury duty.
- After five or more consecutive days of jury duty (or a combination of flight duty and jury duty), Flight Attendants are guaranteed two additional days off with no loss of pay.
- Commuting Flight Attendants are able to request via FAST to be released from a reassignable day on the day before they are scheduled to attend jury duty service if there is a concern about being in place for jury duty.
- If a commuting Flight Attendant was reassigned a trip which conflicts with their ability to be in place for jury duty, they will need to contact their supervisor. The supervisor will verify that the conflict is legitimate and advise FAST to drop the conflict trip as unpaid.
There is additional information, including a Q&A in the Flight Attendant Jury Duty and Summons Guide in Flying Together/ Help Hub.
Review the guide as soon as you receive the summons.
Contact your Local Council with any additional questions.
