MEC Benefits Committee
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month where the focus during the month is to raise awareness about prostate cancer and encourage annual screenings while also providing support to those affected by the disease and their loved ones.
This year, United Benefits, recognizing that early detection saves lives, launched a national campaign on September 2, for all domestic employees (including Guam) to provide access to no-cost at home PSA screening. This service will be available in cooperation with Color Health.
In partnership with Color Health, during the month of September the following program has been launched:
No-cost Prostate Cancer Risk Assessment: Available to all domestic employees (including Guam) to improve your understanding of your personal health risks. For our Members based in LHR, our AFA Contract/UA Medical Plan does provide a yearly no-cost wellness benefit for Prostate Screening.
Free in-home PSA test: Through this initiative, United & Color Health will provide a free, in-home PSA test to anyone who needs it— regardless of whether you are enrolled in a United medical plan.
As part of our overall awareness in how early detection saves lives, keep in mind that additional services, including other at-home screenings, in-person screening support, and clinical care are also only available to those enrolled in United-sponsored EPO and PPO plans.
To take advantage of this opportunity:
- Go to www.color.com/united
- Complete your cancer risk assessment before Oct. 31
- If you need one, Color will ship an at home screening kit directly to you with instructions for use
This overall awareness initiative is not only about supporting those who might be affected by the disease. It’s also about recognizing a cancer diagn3osis impacts the entire family.
