Understanding Your Monthly Maximum in JCBA Section 6.L.

Share links

Understanding the limits on credited flight time as provided for in our Contract is crucial for both Lineholders and Reserves. The monthly maximum for a Lineholder is set at 95 credited hours, while Reserves can reach up to 100 credited hours. Both categories have the option to voluntarily fly above these limits. However, it's essential to monitor your hours closely, as exceeding or being projected to exceed your monthly maximum will result in a legality code appearing in your Master Schedule, signaling potential complications ahead.

If you are assigned a line of flying that exceeds your monthly credited maximum, you may contact Crew Scheduling in advance of the start of the month to have your line adjusted below your monthly maximum.

If you choose not to have your line adjusted prior to the start of the month, you will then be required to fly your line, so long as you do not exceed your monthly maximum on an actual (block) basis (95:00 or 100:00 of block time, unless you have opted to a higher maximum).

In the operation, if you are projected over your monthly actual (block) maximum hours and dropping a pairing becomes necessary, your preference as to which pairing to drop will be subject to your concurrence with the Crew Scheduler. If no agreement is reached, the dropped pairing will be subject to the approval of the Crew Scheduling manager. If you are scheduled over your maximum actual (block) flight time, Crew Scheduling will reassign you.

You may start a pairing from your Domicile projected within the monthly maximum and end up exceeding the monthly maximum as a result of unforeseen irregularities during the pairing, in which case you are required to complete the pairing.

You must resolve an overactual legality for the current month by the 20th for Domestic lines and the 10th for International lines. If you are unable to correct the legality by the above dates by either opting for higher hours or trading your hours down, you should contact the crew desk.
